In
this MRI, one can see how a disc protrusion can
cause pressure on the spinal cord. The spinal
cord is very sensitive to any type of pressure
and thus this can cause pain in either a single
nerve or multiple nerves below the pressure
point. Removal of the disc herniation usually
will resolve the neurological issue. This is a
very common type of cervical disc problem in
that most cervical issues are at the lower
cervical levels with C6-7
being the most common.
